I have a set of jimnybits front recovery points and they are in stores and are likely staying there as I don't want to either drill the chassis or cut the bumper. I have then found a set similar to apio ones on aliexpress the main difference being they are a pair but they extend below the bumper, pick up the cross member hole in the chassis and sandwich the tie down points. Only real issue is security of buying off aliexpress and the delivery schedule is huge. So I thought I'd look into making my own. Question is should I include high lift jack tubes as well as shackle eyes or is that going to make them so long that they will try to rotate when loaded? And are hooks better than eyes as in the cast ones with 2 holes beloved in Jeep circles?

I've got a single front Apio on the Gen4 and much prefer it to the Jimnybits set (stored in the loft). My experience of the cast hooks wasn't great, on the one occasion I really needed them l found I'd snapped off one spring clip and folded back the other. This was on an old petrol Hilux and the chassis rails were quite exposed, might be better on a Jimny. Chris

If I were to use the hooks it would be in conjunction with plates like the above so the hooks would be very exposed and prone to damage, at least with a plate with a hole for a shackle it's reducing the frontal area and a nice radius will help it not snag on stuff. Thanks both.
