Our 2020 Jimny will sit happily on the motorway at 70mph
That is all l would want in a vehicle such as this. lt seems to manage that speed up hills as well, if the cruise control is set.
Also the engine will likely get a bit more lively once it's done around 5,000 miles.
lt encourages a more relaxed and less aggressive driving style, and you tend to arrive at your destination in better frame of mind.

Exactly my thoughts, my previous car (Toyota iQ) I had lowered and it really did corner well reminiscent to my old Mini, but that encourages you to go faster on the corners. Jimny is such a relaxed calming drive.

To get the most out of the gen3's you really had to get the revs high enough before changing up so that it didn't bog down in the next gear.
I find that the biggest improvement with the gen4 is that you can change up a gear from lower revs without losing pace. Basically, the torque and power have a bigger range.

So the difference should be noticeable everywhere. l've never driven a Gen 3 but our 2020 model is fine, plenty fast enough for the type of vehicle that it is.

That would be impressive! But I think your figures are a bit off.lightning wrote: Well, according to the figures the Gen 4 is six seconds faster from standstill to 60mph than the Gen 3.

The gen3 had less body roll and felt tighter to drive on twisting roads or through city streets. Maybe partly due to the hydraulic power steering as well as firmer springs.
The gen4's electric power steering and softer setup is way nicer over bumps and is much nicer on a long drive. Needs less constant correction to keep in a straight line than the gen3, but when it comes to corners, I think the gen3 was better.
As for economy, my 2003 (M13) manual averaged around 9 l/100km. The 2011 (M13 vvt) manual averaged around 8.5 l/100km. While my current 2019 (k15) manual averages 7 l/100km. This is for the same usage too as I've worked and lived in the same places since then and it's my daily driver.

The new Jimny is not a 7 second car. In just the same way that the 3 is not a 19 second car. 13 ish for both is nearer.
Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.
