Experience with sun shade window blinds

Does anyone have experience with OEM and aftermarket sun shade window blinds for the rear window and for the rear side windows?

Any negative effects of using them?

Any aftermarket products to recommend from experience?

Does anyone have used ones to sell?

Would tinting the windows with a foil be a better solution instead?

I have full opaque rear windows as part of the van conversion and they are the bane of my life, the reduction in visibility is horrible, I will not be doing it again.

I would get a 20% tint done in vinyl

I have the Suzuki clip in shades, they are great.

Two considerations:

1. Mine are at least 13 years old and the outsides have faded from black to a grey colour, this does not affect their operation

2. One has gained a small tear from stuff I have carried in the rear, however having had a vinyl window tint on another car I had a similar thing happen to the tint.

I had a 5% tint done on the back 3 windows, it was cheaper than buying the sun shades and gives UV protection too.

I used the tint film that Halfords sell, circa £14 for enough to do all the three rear windows. I did the rear side windows easy, the finish is as good as the professional ones in my son's Corsa, so I gave myself a pat on the back. Very happy with the tint level, no issues with external view, even in the dark. It's also still perfectly good, so nothing wrong with the quality.
Now the rear window is another matter. It's a complex curve and so was very difficult to achieve a finish I was happy with. I would go so far as to say that if I tried again I would take the window out in order to tint it, then refit. I ruined the film trying and so never tinted the rear, but I now I like it this way.

So I have no negative effects to report (on my part tint), but if you want the rear window tinted pay someone else to do it

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Excuse my ignorance, but why is there an issue with visibility?

The Jimny has bigger mirrors than most vans, and is lovely easy to park little box of fun. It's like wearing a large jacket :-)

I don't see the need to see out of the rear windows personally. Tempted to get the rear windows all vinyled the same colour as the car.

There's no issue with lack of a rear window, most of us will have driven vans built this way. If you want to black out the rear of the car to keep valuable tools out of sight (for example) then it's probably a good idea. If it's just a styling exercise it may not be. At least vinyl quickly peels off if you change your mind. Chris

Reversing out of car parking spaces is a pain simply because most people assume that my opaque windows are actually transparent because they don't expect a Jimny to be a van, it doesn't look like a transit or whatever. Also oblique junctions where the traffic is coming from the near side are not much fun either. First world problem obviously.
