My Jimmy New look. was created by Jim Jim
Hi Mates,

Been a while since I was last here. Just showing some progress with my 98 Jimny. I bought it in May and did quite a bit to it already.
Lifted it 2 inches with spacers I machined, cut 4mm thick galvanized patches, welded and reinforced all the rear body mount supports, installed new body mounts and painted the chassis and underneath the body. Sanded and painted the entire engine bay, and finally spent 5 days sanding, priming and painting her in a beautiful BMW blue.

.Before.
.

After.

I have installed an alarm with remote locking right now. Wiring up the manual remote start and remote window control next.
Sound system and HAM radio with APRS tracking afterwards.

I have some bits to get that I cant seem to find here, the stealership does not stock low demand parts either.

I need a rear window wiper motor seal/grommet, tail gate door handle and glove box lock, if you guy know where I can get these relatively easy, please let me know.

The local stealership has the glove box lock in stock priced at US$ 110

Thanks Mate. A lot of work and cash went into this Jimny already but I think I will enjoy it.

I am looking around for a 1600 Baleno or Vitara engine to rebuild and swap into her. The 1300 is pulling strong, but I think the valve seals might be leaking a bit, the extra torque and HP should be fun too....

Will be lifting suspension 2 inches soon too.

Ignore the HT power cable running across the engine, I was checking it for length.

LOl lots of wiring but I like that, still have to do the sound system and HAM radio after :)

The Jimny has a simple but yet "unconventional design" for electric door locking compared to other manufacturers, took me a bit of time to figure out how it operates. Had to use a normally closed 5 pin relay to make it work with the alarm for unlocking.
