I’m sure there’s a way to position the aerial between the Thule bars, basket and awning. The rear awnings are pretty cool and especially with the nice flat rear area of the Jimny.

Yep, anything that uses the suzuki brand roof bars is restricted to 30kgs cos that's the limit of those bars.

I hope you are correct but where does it say the roof bars are rated at 30 kgs? This would compare to 100 kgs for Thule square bars.
I see maximum roof load capacity not roof bars.

There were 2 issues with the Gen 3 Jimny in respect of roof load. The first was that the roof bars were mounted to the roof by plastic bits that could snap off under load and the other was the fear of rolling it over.

With the Gen 4 it looks like it bolts to the gutter, so I'd imagine that is the first issue sorted.

For gen4, everywhere that the suzuki roofbars are mentioned, 30kg is also mentioned. But not anywhere else.

Aftermarket roof bars always mention 30kg for earlier jimnys but not for gen4 as here:-

From experience with my gen 4 as long as I have the roof weight evening distributed (fairly easy with a tent) I don't feel like the car drives any worse with 60kg on the roof. There's a slight difference in driving manners with 73kg dynamic load now I have additional weight of the Slimline rack and quick release mounts. However I think that will be reduced by changing my tent brackets to lower the tent down 30mm and remove big gap between rack and the tent.

Static load we've had over 200kg and no issue with the rain gutter strength. The front runner 3/4 rack is rock solid compared to the Thule bars we used to use but even with 3 of those the tent and 150kg occupants was fine.

Certainly not saying doing this is without risk. Works for us and I'm doing thorough checks of the bars, feet and rain gutters at every opportunity. No sign of any movement, sag or damage.

I don't do challenging off-roading, it's just enough to reach a decent camp in the woods or easy road access.

So far the only noticeable hit is fuel economy.

With two adults and a roof tent 200 kg is about average unless you're little. The gutters don't budge :)

The thing to think about when exceeding the 30kg limit is insurance. If you did crash by putting it on its side etc, your insurance company will not be paying out!
