Hi. The new to us 16 has the much nicer dark grey alloy wheels and I am coveting them for Ermintrude. But management like them too so they are unlikely to relinquish them. So i was thinking about refinishing my existing ones to match the grey of the bumpers, but I wonder if it would look naff having the correct wheels in the wrong colour? If they were steel and it was just a matter of a few rattle cans they would be 3 in black and one in a random colour every 6 months but being alloy and needing to be powder coated that would be expensive.

Or do I just leave it alone?

these wheels but in the same colour as the bumpers?

Not a bad idea that. B)

If it was mine I might consider doing them in the same colour as the upper bodywork.... but that might look a bit contrived

The pre-war MGs used to have wheels that matched the upholstery - eg black car - red seats - red wheels or Green car - black seats - black wheels etc etc.
Unfortunately the interior of the Jimny is not very dynamic with coloured trim

IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

Yeah I know what you mean about the dull interior. I don't want to murder it out but equally I think currently the exterior is a bit fussy. It's even worse with the silver roof rails on.

Personally, I don't think the darker grey finish to those wheels would look "contrived" - as it would be part of the standard colour palette for alloys generally.

But then again, if you're like me, I wouldn't do it until I had scuffed at least one wheel and was sick of looking at it!

You could go black for both the roof rails and the alloys - but there is a danger of chipping the roof rails in particular?

Murder it out you mean, black on black on black on black? There is a wheels powder coating place just up the A1. It has to be worth a phone call.

I like mine murdered out with these black chrome wheels. Powder coating was not cheap but worth it I think.

That's the Look!

Next, you'll have to get a gun rack, Texas-style. (If you get the cow-horns as well, paint them black too.)
