Doing an oil change on my 2007 Jimny. What grade of oil do people on here use? Owners manual prefers 5W-30 for temperatures ranging -30 - +30
S urely for the U.K. 10W-40 should do with temp ranging -20 - +40. Never going to reach +40 or go below -20 where I live, any recommendations?

5w-30 'Triple QX' brand from euro car parts. Discount code on their site for this weekend as well ;-)

Revs better with this thinner grade, though it is more expensive stuff to buy.

I second Riccy with thinner oil, I run Mobil One 0W40 and my VVT was much improved and it revs more eagerly throughout the rev range.

Yes, I've been running the 5w30 in my 2000 non vvt and it runs nicely on it. I've previously run on 10w40 without issue though.

5w30 is what Ford uses, so it's easy to get everywhere and cheaper as a result.

The Eurocarparts oil brand mentioned above is ok. I've used it in our BMW'S with no issues. I tend to buy it when they have their largest discount codes on, ready for the next oil change.

Tescos often have Castrol Magnatec on offer at half price though, so if you shop there, keep an eye out. That's what's currently in my Jimny.
