The easiest way to get an interior light is to take power from the existing one where the rear view mirror is. Drop the headlining a little and its easy to run wires from it.
A light like this (with 3 wires and a 3 position switch on it) will allow you to have it work automatically when the door opens, or switched on/off manually (the same as the existing interior light does):

Jimny's for some reason generally switch everything on the negative (-) side of the thing. This means you will need to find a + feed from somewhere. Probably the existing interior light again im afraid.
Parallel wiring is when you connect your red and black light wire to an existing light (interior light again. One side of the bulb will be +12v and the other negative).
