A 4x4 doesn't have any more physical grip than any other vehicle it still only has 4 tyres touching the ground. What it does have is potentially more traction. But that's a question of the appropriateness of the tyres case in point being the video I posted about 4x4 vs winter. What makes them skittish in the way mentioned above is almost certainly as a consequence of not having the correct pressures in the tyres.

The Jimny isn't a 4x4 on the road. It's 2wd and the tail end is light. Therefore it seems "lively" compared to a heavy front wheel drive car. Embrace it and enjoy old fashioned driving. Sideways around mini-roundabouts!

In the case of the Jimny a high centre of gravity, it has narrow wheelbase and thin tyres that are sometimes overinflated. In normal driving it is rear wheel drive, not 4wd.

Most cars leave the factory with deliberately high tyre pressures for transport and storage. The dealer is supposed to adjust them as part of the PDI process. If your Jimny has excessive tyre pressures on delivery, it's because they didn't bother doing the PDI properly. Unfortunately this is depressingly common across all manufacturers these days.
