...that first paragraph of text just seems like sensationalised tabloid copy - do you have any evidence to back up the claims? (text copied in the italics below)
"
Suzuki’s brand new version of their Jimny has proven to be something of a hit for the Japanese manufacturer. With just 500 coming into the UK in year one, and all of those spoken for, if you haven’t ordered one you’ll be waiting two and a half years to collect yours now. It’s proven so popular in Japan that some are being quoted a delivery date of 2027! Some dealers have even closed their order books, knowing that they can’t keep up with demand. At some of the larger dealerships, the lone demonstrator model is booked out for test drives almost constantly for weeks"
From searching this site and keeping up with news the situation seems more to be like the following:
It's been fairly well documented that there are to be 1100 cars in year 1 and over 2000 expected in year 2.
There are defintely some cars available at some dealers this year, so not quite a two and a half year wait.
Japan is publicised as more like 2-3 years, not quite 8 years.
Most dealers will put you on a waiting list until they know their future allocations, so technically not closed their order books.
Really interested to hear of dealers that have there demo booked out constantly for weeks, when it was previously claimed there are no cars and order books are closed!
As said originally I stand corrected if there are links to credible sources to back up the claims in the news item.
Appreciate your comments. We were simply passing on what we'd been told by (multiple) Suzuki dealers and some news sources online. I've amended the copy now to make it slightly less sensationalist! Still, it proves just how popular they're proving.
The last comment, about the demos being booked out for weeks, is fact. At the dealer we collected ours from, we could see the sales board, and that the demo was, in fact, booked out solid. He also said they had temporarily closed their order books, perhaps to catch up.

We only believe in producing quality parts. That sounds contrived but it's true. We've invested well over £1.5m on engineering equipment in the last 18 months alone, enabling us to produce the components that we simply couldn't source to our standards before. If you check out our website and have a look at our products, you'll see we're not a company that churns out mass produced products in China. We literally design and build EVERYTHING in house.
To give an example, the only components in our newest release, a sleep base/shelf system for the Land Rover Defender, that we don't produce in house are the bolts and rubber buffers for the side bin tops to sit on.
Once the first Jimny parts have been manufactured and tested, we'd be happy to meet a few members (we're based in Warwickshire, if anyone's near) to prove to you that the products are as good as we say they are. The proof is in the pudding...

We're only looking at parts for the current generation at the moment. We have so many parts in development for different marques that we currently don't have the time to look at other models etc.
This is a big pity for owners of Gen3 vehicles but will also mean that you are most probably completely missing a trick...
Lambert is completely right when he pointed out that owners of the very well established Gen3 would be more willing to utilise aftermarket ideas. After all, the Gen 3 will be around for a very long time yet.
Moreover the outgoing car and incoming one are in many ways similar, so in theory at least, you could surely further widen the potential market by investigating which items can be used on both models, even if it meant a small 'adapting' component needed to be utilised on say, the older model, to get it to fit.
Just my thoughts...
IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

With the Gen 4 being more of an evolution than a revolution, components designed for the 2019 model may be only a tweak (or less) away from fitting the older models, giving a much bigger potential market. Certainly worth a glance, I would have thought!
Another vote for the headlight conversion idea

Regarding MK3 owners, should there be an interest in a mk3 version of some of our SZ products, a rack being a good example, we will make any product mk3 specific within our bespoke program but if 5 mk3 owners order that product we will produce it as standard.
Many thanks

It's easy to get that impression, particularly from the Facebook groups where most people just want a cheap truck for messing about in. but considering people were still buying brand new gen3s barely a year ago I think there is a lot more depth to the market than that.
+1
And theres several builds here thats more expensive than a brand new jimny.. No doubts some people are willing to pay for good products.

As you'll see in a previous post, we've got a few interior storage solutions coming up, so I thought you'd be interested to see the beginning of the process. We're using our Romer Absolute Arm to gather the data (picture 1), which will be sent over to Solid Edge so we can CAD the products this week.
