Hello all!
Long time peruser of this forum and day-dreaming potential Jimny owner. Now I have joined the Jimny family with a spanking new JB74! I have the manual 1.5 GA.
I've attached a photo from a brief beach sand drive this morning, which was my first lever pull into 4x4 after a week or so.
I am not sure if anyone has outlined this before, or how this compares to other markets but here in South Africa we get the base model 1.5GA or the range topping 1.5GL and the major differences are my GA has no central locking, no radio/sat nav, no alloy wheels and lastly no split rear seats with spiffy rubber lined rears. Luckily I prefer the steelies and can sort the majority of the rest.
I'm not huge on the idea of 4x4ing for 4x4ing sake, and am hoping to do some 4x4ing more to explore Southern Africa which is still rugged and rural off the beaten track for adventures with my wife and also importantly, some waves (I bodyboard and dabble with surfing.)
I'm looking forward to engaging with Jimny nuts the world over and am happy to answer any questions about the newer models though my technical knowledge isn't amazing!

LUCKY MAN!
Welcome to the forums Mr. Paynter
If you're driving it on the beach I hope Suzuki have done something about the anti-corrosion measures on this model

Cool car. I'm personally more interested about these models with no extra equipment to keep the price down. The price for the "luxus" model seems to be like 28k€ for the manual here in Finland anyways.

Awesome, thanks all.
I'm not sure the anti-corrosion is any better as the undercarriage seems very bare, but we generally have year round sunshine (so no snow, sludge and salt) and I kept her well away from the water.
Driving on the beach in South Africa is illegal unless you're in designated spaces like this small jet-ski launch site which I was visiting.
Otherwise I'm loving the Jimny thus far and am hopefully picking up a roofrack for surfboards etc tomorrow and I'll share some photos once it is mounted.

Howzit! ... looks like Durban is on the map!
I have the 2022 GLX M/T medium grey... this car is not fast... this car is not strong... but what fun driving this little "head turner" , and the Durban Jimny community are definitely on board with the flash and wave.
looking forward to engaging.
