I want to modify the reclining mechanism on the rear seats of my 2018 Jimny so they go flat (I know I'll need the rear door open to do that). Wondered if anyone has done it or if there are any workshops near NE Essex that could do it for me? I'm then after a small rear awning - nothing fancy pants. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a lot of effort. Would it be simpler to remove them completely and have an interchangeable padded flat structure?

I've never done it but it's a pretty simple mechanism, dropping a pin into one of 2 slots on a cam, with a raised section that acts as the stop. With the upholstery removed you should easily see what bit you need to grind off allow the seats to fall fully backwards.
