Extra weight on boot door was created by Garuuu
Ive got steel wheels from Jimny bits and bf goodrich a/t tyres (215/75/15). With these heavier wheels i was wondering if i would encounter any problems with tbe added weight on the boot door.

Thanx for the info!

I just got a spare MT 215/75 on steel wheel, so the same question was on my mind. It is some 10kg of extra weight

I've had mine on for about a year and no problem yet.... Suppose it will depend in how much you open the door

My friend had a problem with the door sagging but he had 30 inch tyres which wer also wider than mine and therefore heavier.

Mines been ok up to date with 31" spare stuck on there as well as a spare spacer for the 15x8 steelies.

I used extra rubber bits to make the wobble stoppers longer and fit properly with the 31" tyre. Works ok, Time will tell for how long!

I've had no problems with a 215/75r15 on a standard steel rim on the rear door for over 50,000 miles. I'm fairly sure it's not 10kg heavier than the original tyre though. Maybe 3 or 4kg extra?

No.
Door hinges tend to loosen up a little through wear etc. I kept mine on my gold Jimny well lubricated after having a green Jimny which had badly worn hinges but that was used by a golf club owner and for some reason its hinges had gone.

Do it right - use Hammerite

Thru the winter season I got a ski rack on the spare wheel. Have to have a steel wheel to make it fit. Driving on bad roads with two pairs of skis makes a slight knocking noise from the door because of the extra weight. I think the sheet metal wobbles where the bracket is mounted.
I guess this adds 10 kg for the rack and 10 more with the skis.

In summer i have my 235 BFG on alloy wheel on there. No problems with any of the setups.
My bracket is slightly modified due to the 235.
