Hello people, ive recently bought a red 99 reg jimny with a 2 inch lift. she has been a nightmare since the day I bought her, firstly we had a check engine light intermittently flicking on and off which to two different garages, auto electrician and new MAP sensor turned out to be a something clogging the air pressure getting to the MAP sensor, then the hubs look like there away so just order some new manual hubs and shes also got an oil leak round the back of the engine. which to be honest im not too surprised but her latest problem is I was returning for work and had three passengers in the car with my self, so four all together. this was the first time she had been fully laden and as soon as the engine has any work load it sounds like a matalic fan catching on something else. I think the noise is coming from the back but im not 100% any of youse lads have any idea..

Hmmm. I would be underneath it looking at anything that rotates and looking for anything close by that's got a shine where it's possibly being touching. Bit odd that it only does this when laden and under load, not one or the other.

Any chance it’s the tyres scrubbing? I had mine fully laden last week and the tyres were scrubbing the odd time on uneven surfaces

No bud it's a metal on metal noise I just can't place it, like I've said there's only ever really me and the girlfriend or a mate so it has never happened before, but the four of us the other night I was tempted to say it might have been the rear prop but I can't see anything.

Can you ballast it up and have a look under it then?

On a different car, I had a problem with the corroded edges of the discs getting so bad that they rubbed on the backplates.
I've also had grit get stuck between the backplates and discs, but this noise was happening all the time; not just when the engine was under load as you suggest here.
IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS
