Yes I believe the AA stopped the salute after they felt that it was too risky on the road.

Ha! The AA salute was a thinly disguised warning of a police speed trap - only in those days it must have been based on the policeman's judgment of your speed, and how fast he believed you were going!

Coming from classic minis where the wave happened all the time, just had my first flash of the lights and wave from another jimny owner today. Had a massive grin after haha

You can't miss my modified Jimny coming the other way but I am yet to get a wave locally.

I've had waves from modified Jimnys when away but only modified ones.

Hahah! I almost spat my tea out reading that

Coming from the SAAB fraternity - it seemed to be only the drivers of SAAB convertibles that waved back,
Motorcyclists always used to flash the light or wave (I know - I was one!) but I don't see them doing that any more - not even so much as a nod as they pass each other these days

I nod other motorcyclists, and the majority nod back. Out of habit I do it in the car sometimes too but nobody notices those nods.

Heheh - that made me smile - I caught myself waving at SAAB on the way back from the MOT while driving the Jimny yesterday and felt a proper fool. The SAAB driver must have thought I knew him or something.
Good to know the biker fraternity are keeping a tradition going though :cheer:
