As a new owner I am getting to know our Jimny and how it all works. Its a 2009 push button hard top and as far as I can tell it all works perfectly (so far). It has plenty of rattles and squeaks but they all do that sir, but one noise has me stumped as to the source.

First journey of the day as you drive off, within a few seconds of engaging the clutch, a noise similar to an electrical motion solenoid appears (buzz) for a second, but never again until the next day or if the car is stopped for a long period. From within the car the sound source appears to be under the car, towards middle / rear.

I have googled but can only find references to clunks and bangs as you drive away for the first time, this is in no way a clunk etc. It sounds eldctrical.

Any suggestions??????

No prize given and its not something I would fix, its not an issue, but I was interested in what it could be.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Could be the ABS self testing.

On my Renault Nee-San, there is a tremendous CLUNK from the back, followed by a knocky-knocky-knocky-knocky noise about 25 yards after I first start off in the morning. I never hear it again until the next day.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

That 2-3 seconds buzz, when first time driving FW or RW, after you reach 8-10kmh, comes from the ABS pump.

It is absolutely normal.

How weird no one has asked that on here before.

I don't have ABS on mine.
