jimny in Thailand was created by kelky7777
I had a visit from a friend recently and took her to a few places in the Jimny, now shes back in Thailand and decided she wants one over there. She is British, living in Phuket for 25 years or so. Cars are so expensive there and import duties cost the Earth, I wanted to take a Rav4 I had in the UK when I was living there, it would have cost 17k duties on a 2001 rav that was in 2011.

She found a 1998 Jimny in Bangkok for 7154 gbp, a new one here is 13k so currently waiting to to here what kind of import costs she would have to pay for a new one.

Are any members based in Thailand? any useful tips?

Yes, that is because in most markets around the world the Jimny name was used since the earliest LJ.

Only in the EU and UK in particular did the Jimny name appear for the post 1998 models
