My local dealer phoned me yesterday to keep me up to date on the new Jimny.

He is going to a launch event on 20th November to drive the new model, and said they will initially be getting 3 vehicles in - 1 demonstrator and the other 2 for customers. He said they can't specify colour/spec for the initial delivery, that would need to be a specific order for the remaining 2019 supply, which would be very limited (I'm sure he said something about only 1100 vehicles in 2019 for the UK).

Approx two per uk dealer per month in 2019.

Based on the waiting list at most dealers this suggests 2019 is already sold out.

As you say, little opportunity to choose colour. If you are top of the list and waiting for a yellow and a green comes in, then the person waiting for a green jumps the queue.

Due to the huge demand, Suzuki are looking at how to increase production.

And uk are not happy with the accessory pricing.

Thanks for that further update Martin. What's the story with the accessory pricing?

I had a chance to test drive the new Jimny today. I think it's a nice car and quite similar to the old Jimny. Biggest differences to my 2006 JX are: Strong brakes, softer suspension(more comfortable), mechanical transfer box is cool, auto ac and media/navi system. Steering was firm, but can't compare to my Jimny since it does not have a power steering. Anyway, i was positively surprised. The Suzuki representatives very super passive, no tries to sell the car at all.. Delivery starts in January in Finland, approx 6 months of wait time at the moment.

We went into our local dealer to have our 2016 car get it's 2nd year service last week.

The have sold around 10 Jimny's a year in the past few years. It has not been a big seller.

They have no fixed pricing details for the car yet and have been told to only expect 8 to 10 cars in 2019.

Each of the three salesmen have around 10 to 12 noted interests in the new car. A number of these possible buyers have offered cash to confirm they will get a car. The dealers policy is only to accept orders for cars when they have a price and specification for a car that they are selling.

Therefore they have not accepted any orders.

They have now stopped taking names and addresses from future owners as they have a probable 2 years waiting list.

You can get a new Morgan these days within 6 months in most cases.

Has anyone seen any towing figures yet? Not expecting to be able to throw out the Land Cruiser just yet, but hoping it'll be up to hauling a few sheep.
