Been a long time, and life has changed in oh so many ways.

Quick update;

I've had another run with the Kaiser and gave it a good go, putting up with the bangs and clangs, trying to figure it out....

The kaiser relies on some slack in the driveline to operate, some black magic about the different rotation speeds between half shafts in order to lock (or something) IF you change your driving style you can live with it, and live with it well. But the driving style changes are pretty drastic, I.e. no sharp coming on/off throttle mid corner, parking lots are your worst enemy expect understeer push everywhere as the inside wheel does all the pushing and forget ever letting someone drive it who doesn't know the tricks

However, it is an amazing difference in capability (as with any true locker) an auto might have an easier go of it as it is less harsh on acceleration/deceleration.

It's not for everyone, and I for one will be replacing it with an air locker in the future

I came to the same conclusion after a few years with a locker in my SJ. Just wonderful taking it to off road meets and go way further than any posh Heep or Yota with expensive mods. And also great on snow and gravel roads.
But horrible to drive around on tarmac in tight parking lots and like. You really have to need it to accept the downsides.

When picking up my kids from the kindergarten and watching their heads being tossed from side to side in the back :) Guessing they got strong neck muscles..

But essentially you should expect something more for that kind of money. Is works just as the much cheaper lock-right.
