ZookBOB - An Introduction

If you haven't spotted me by now... I am "ZookBOB" on eBay -

ZookBOB - "Bits On a Budget", a nod to Bits4Vits and also my full name is Robert David Jones, so the BOB is also a shortening of my first name too.
As Bits4Vits, I've always been a merchant that "buys-to-sell" whereas a lot of my current competition "make-to-sell", so I've struggled to compete on prices as margins are obviously a lot lower when you are reselling other company's products. I also found it difficult to compete with the budget eBay sellers out there
So, over Christmas, I was mulling the whole thing over and decided that I too would begin to "make-to-sell"... In Bits4Vits heyday years I'd invested in tools to offset some of the profits I made back then, so I've got a decent MIG welder, a chop saw, pillar drill, pipe bender, sheet bender, angle grinders, etc... And as my Dad was a steel fabricator all his life, and I've been spannering with Suzuki 4x4 Vehicles for the past 27 years, making stuff has always been "in my blood"...
So, I spent my days off, Wednesdays and Sundays, in January and early February making Bits in my garage...
And now have the start of a range of parts that I make and sell myself...
eBay LINK
So far there's -
Front and Rear Shock Spacers / Repositioners
Rear Shock Spacers / Repositioners with a bush at the bottom on the axle mounting
Bump Stop Spacers
Simple and cheap front shock spacers made from box section
A Steering Damper kit for road-going Jimnys
And a HD one for offroad Jimnys
Steering Spacers for after a bodylift is fitted
Brake Brackets for suspension and bodylifts
Transfer Box Mounting Brackets to replace those flimsy cast ones
Transfer Box Bush'n'Bolt stack mounts
Seat Spacers for us tall people with long legs
and budget spacer based Suspension Lift Kits
In the pipeline, I also have -
Castor Correction Bushes
and other Bits as things start to sell, and my skills develop
This is a completely separate business to Bits4Vits for a couple of reasons... Bits4Vits has always been branded as "inexpensive quality products", so I didn't want to introduce a budget range onto the store, and Bits4Vits continues to sell a large proportion of products overseas where the competition sell higher priced products... in the UK there are more
So, with thanks to Martin for allowing me to post this (a donation to the forum fund will of course be made too), I just wanted to introduce my new budget range of parts to the Jimny-massive that congregate on this great forum...

Since you have all those tools. I come to think of one thing. We need a good quality HD winch bumper. As it is now, there is only the flimsy bumper fra KAP and other similar looking ones and then the ARB bumper.
Would be great to see something in between at around £350-450. Perhaps like the first ORA HD bumper. Excellent bumper and not nearly as heavy as the ARB one.

Ahhh, like Bits4Vits, I only do small "Bits", bits I can store in my shop's storeroom and ship easily (and quickly) through my Post Office...
I'm pretty sure Russ over at JimnyBits will have a winch bumper in development though
Yes, I liked the first generation ORA winch bumper...
