Got it!
Unfortunetly had to destroy the cover, it was really jammed on tight.
Had to use a hammer and chisel to put a split in it, then used some pliers to pull it apart bit by bit.
The whole thing came loose eventually haha.
After that I had to scrape away the rust that had built up around the nut as the adaptor still wouldnt fit!

Well done.

I often end up using a padlock and chain - bicycle lock sort of thing - cos have no end of trouble with spare wheel locks. I had a metal cover on a locker on my Freelander spare just and it took me ages to get the cover off. Imagine what a pain it would be trying to change a tyre in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night in the rain. Arghhhhhh.

Do it right - use Hammerite
When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Get a budget set of locking nuts from e-bay and use three for the spare. If you put locking wheelnuts on the others they come as a set of four anyway and you will probably want good ones.
