The whole point of snorkel is that you can go as deep as you want, as long as the snorkel is free.

But are you sure you need a snorkel... ? You can drive in pretty deep water without one.

It depends also on what sort of water you are crossing. clean slow flowing river water will do a lot less damage to things like clutch and alternator than driving through a runny muddy silted puddle on a play site. that said things like kingpin bearings rust just driving on the road avoiding any serious puddles so if you are looking to get very wet on a regular basis your maintenence schedule needs to reflect the adverse driving conditions. Play hard service hard.

just a snorkel here, if going to deep water i use to give the electrics a quick spray of a water replant (gt85 or similar)

would advise axle gearbox and trasnfer box breathers,

I pull apart all the electrical connectors that I can reach and give the contacts and seals a smear of Vaseline to keep the water out. 4ft deep I wouldn't advise, especially if the water is moving, a Jimny can float but won't necessarily remain wheels down.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thanks for the advice and there's only one place that gets that deep and its not moving water it's just a country lane that gets flooded that I wondered if I would be able to get through seen a defender do it but wasn't sure if the mighty Jimmy would manage it
