Just saying Hi was created by tumilty
I am just saying high as a new member to the forum. I am looking to buy a Jimny, they look like very capable machines. I moved to the countryside a couple of years ago and I do not want to be stuck in the house for weeks on end this year if the weather turns bad again.

I am looking for a pre 2001 model because of the road tax.

Just looking for some advice on what to avoid / lookout for.

Welcome,

yep, have a good look out for rust, my jiny is a w regg 2001, and had lots of the sytuff, so much infact, it was easier to cut the back end of and trayback it.

Also make sure the 4 wheel drive system is all in good order, front vacum hubs can be problematic at best, put it into first gear and try a fast pull off, check for the clutch slipping, but also listen to the transfer box for any strange noises.

whatever is said to look out for, dont let it put you off, ive given mine a year and a half of some heavy abuse and all has been good,

mine has been in water halfway up the windscreen, parked on its back bumper, parked on its front bumper, been on its side a few times, rammed various things, towed things alot bigger than it, went places others couldnt... the list goes on.

when you get one no matter the problems you may or may not have, you will have a smile on your face when driving it off road

all the best on you search for one.
