A kind of diy Cazoo trip, to drop off my jimny for my daughter to use over this laid up period while the garages are closed. Hers packed up last night and she's a freelance groom with her busiest period.500 miles round trip .

Went old school today on the Jimny with my mechanic stethoscope to locate a strange random rasping noise when cold. Had suspected heat shield or PAS pump with my head under the bonnet, but one item at a time with the scope and surprise result:
Pas -no
Alternator - no
Aircon pump -no
Heatshilds - no
Engine block - no
Idler pulley -HELL YES!!!!
I can't recommend these cheap listening tools enough to locate the source of failing components. Time to find a 6010DU bearing.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Martin sells them. They separate into 4 parts, the inner that bolts on,an outer ring, a tin plate to protect the seal and the bearing. They come apart easily enough with a 12 tonne press.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

Thanks, I've asked Martin if he can get one. Hope it takes a little less than 12T as I only have a vice!
If it's tough to get apart / reassemble it may make a complete until more cost effective, not sure.
Anyone done this without a press?
