Try to assemble a differential without shims and preloads.
I did my front diff by feel still going strong
never touched a diff before

Front limited slip differential fitted, just to assemble the rest of the front end

This is why it pays to keep a set of kingpin bearings on the shelf.
Pre MOT on Spare Jimny results in vertical movement of near side wheel. Better found now than in the MOT lane.
