when you say short runs, how short?
If you are obnly talking about 5-10 minutes then that sounds about right. Jimnys aren't the most economical things about and short runs are always going to be worse...

My 2001 auto only does 23/24 to the gallon with runs of around 10 miles at a time. Marginally more on a longer run if I keep the speed down. Not good with the current price of petrol.

erm.. bugger, I get 140 miles to the tank..... not a clue what that is to the gallon, Mavericks is the same spec but later engine and he gets about the same.

if i go laning anywhere it costs me a tank and a half at least...

6:1 lobster, 32" tyres, lockright, etc, probably doesnt help does it.

Just been from Warton, Preston up through Blackpool to Fleetwood, managed to do about 12mpg :-( Kept a 5ltr petrol can in the boot as I put 5ltr in from totaly empty, then had to use my reserve can for the return.
Tried not to fill up the tank as I am having a'lot of welding done to both my front and rear axles on Saturday, and my friendly local welder wants my tank dry and I will need to drain my diffs again.

Cage, Special tracs, 4.16 rocklobster, Rear locker don't help.
