If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Oil coming from the halfshaft is escsping from the swivel housing.
You need to check the swivel bearings (kingpins) for play, (most likely there will be) then change
Top & bottom swivel bearing
Half shaft oilseal
Both these come to about £23 from Bigjimny Shop
You most likely will need a new swivel housing seal, these are about £25 off eBay
So £50 will get it sorted.
There are some guides on here to help with fitting.

Hi mate it will probably be the swivel joint seal, this is a ten minute job to change. Just make sure you remember which way the three seals go when you put them back on you will know what I mean when you take it off.
Have a look on the HOW TOO part abou how to change the KING PIN bearings this shows the seal.
Good look
James

It's the axle tube oil seal that's leaking due to excessive lateral movement of the half shaft within it caused by excessive wear in kingpin or wheel bearings. Not the swivel seal as that keeps stuff out not in.
Get some new kingpin bearings from Martin which will come with the oil seal.
Then follow Martin's fitting guide and all should be well!

Yes - its NEVER the large swivel seal. This seal is really designed to keep dirt out, not grease/oil in. The joint inside is "dry" (ok - so it has grease packed into the CV and a small amount around the ball), therefore any leaking is a problem. The problem is usually the King Pin bearings themselves.
If you are doing the bearings you can replace the large seals but more often than not a quick wipe with an oily rag will bring them up nicely.

It may have had the swivel housing packed full of grease by mistake...
Check the bearings both sides whilst you have the jack out.

May be clutching at straws here but...
The screen wash tank keeps emptying itself but i cant see where from, is it just a coincidence that this is directly above the area which looks like its leaking? hmmm
