Front Wheel Bearings ...

Typical ... Noticed a bit of play on the MOT in Jan that the nsf wheel bearing was starting to show signs of wear .. Ive only done 3 days offroad since, so I ordered a new bearing off Martin. Yesterday I simply moved the cars around to get the TVR out of the garage and I noticed a pool of evil smelling oil from the osf wheel (bearing was only changed last year).

So it looks like Im going to have to get another bearing kit and change both sides.

One question though ... I know there "should" be seals inplace between the driveshaft and the diff, but should I be checking my diff oil to make sure none has leaked ?

Unless there is a lot of play in the wheelbearing its unlikely to be the cause of the oil leak. This will be the inner axle oil seal thats letting diff oil through into the cv area. Therefore it would be a good thing to change the inner oil seal and if its at all worn also the big oil seal on the swivel ball. Before you change the big oil seal it would be a good idea to remove any surface rust on the ball with fine emery cloth so the seal has a good surface to run on. This seal does a double job of keeping water etc out of the cv area, but also stops cv grease from escaping!
You should check the oil level in the diff when you have finished.
I imagine the king pin bearings are ok but worth checking at the same time

Cheers for that, makes sense :)Ill pop along to my local Jimny friendly garage and have a chat to them... them. as the one bearing needs doing anyway, Ill get some oil seals from martin and get them to sort the source of the leak / polish my balls while they are at it !!
