Well, after Martin kindly sent me all the bits to do the job...they have sat and stared at me every time i've went into my garage for this and that. Day off today however...so here goes nothing...

Once you've done it you'll wonder why you worried about it!

Only bit of advice is, to get the race out if you don't have access to a welder like shown in martins guide use a small punch or small cold chisel to tap round the small edge you can get on to. it is only a small lip but its enough to tap them out.

I've managed to do it without taking the joint apart and just hinging the swivel out of the way.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

How did you find getting the shaft back in the diff without taking the joint apart - I'd not thought about it as being possible but then hadn't tried.

Well both side went pretty well I guess, considering it was my first time...and probably the biggest job I've done on it yet. Wasn't full of yuck though like pictured in Martin's guide. (thankfully!) whilst on the subject- many thanks again to Martin for his guides; the confidence they give to just get the tools out and get a new unfamiliar job like that done is priceless. :) Thanks also to mcjimny, round punch did the trick with the bearing race :)

nah just a nice long hot shower and a fish supper before i posted on here :silly: admittedly though - it did take me the best part of 7 hours to do both sides, but I think thats perhaps because I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning out the parts :evil:

Theres plenty of room i found, i didn't have a lot of choice first time round as i broke my(dads:blush: ) joint splitter and it was all in bits so i just tried it!

And thats a good tip with the socket, i'll try that next time.
