I would ask the seller how he joined the gears together. Don't get me wrong, he could have access to the right equipment and skills and it could be a good job, however some people in the past have thought they could just weld everything together with inevitable results.

Ask him how it was done and see if he answers with a nice technical explanantion, run away if he just says he "cut them and welded them , mate"

he says he machined the gears himself so id hope hes pretty technical!

Am i right in thinking thats not as a Redacted one as in the on road 2wd ratios are just normal so the 4low is the modified part?

I mean, would this not help your larger tyres on road like a Redacted one would, sorry if im way off

The answer to that depends on where you started from!

First of all the advert is aimed at SJ owners not Jimny owners so he is referring to people who either have an SJ413 or SJ410 as a starting point.

A Rocklobster has an SJ410 High Ratio and a Modified Low Ratio.

Therefore if you have an SJ410 then this conversion does not affect High Ratio and gives you a nice low Ratio.

An SJ413 normally has a higher High Ratio than an SJ410. Therefore fitting a Rocklobster to an SJ413 lowers BOTH the High and Low Ratios. It drops the High Ratio from SJ413 standard to SJ410 Standard and provides the nice low ratio.

The Ebayer should know this if he is technical so it might be worth asking him this as a "tester"

For us Jimny owners it provides a lowered High and a lowered Low Ratio.

Ive already spoken to the seller.
he has confirmed its a mating of a 420 and 413 box, and would offer 12% reduction on the high gearing over a standard Jimny

Former owner of Little "Ooky", who has now started a new life in Shetland

to fit that one on a jimny you would also need a speedo conversion if you wanted a working speedo & prob have to change the flanges as well.

might as well just get one from Redacted all done & ready to bolt on in my opinion
