Difficult to tell :woohoo:

Haha  there-in lies a story...

I went into Halfords thinking they had stock on the shelves... they used to years ago? But now it's ordered on the till via a database (powered by Euro Car Parts it transpires) indexed through your registration, so that you get the right parts...

So, I ordered two belts for BT54VTS (the gold one) and paid, they said they'd be there within an hour and a half and they'd ring me...

Good service I thought, and the thought entered my head that I really should get a pair to carry as spares in S200KYS (the blue one), so I made another separate transaction for them, but low stock on one so they'd be delivered for collection the following day...

So, no phone call?... so I called back into store the following day to see what was there for me... the guy on the till walked over to the big secure black metal cupboard under the stairs and came back with four belts and popped them on the counter. "Which is which order I said?", but after much deliberation he couldn't tell me, and advised I rang Euro Car Parts as they were the underlying supplier...

When fitting them I compared the old to the new for the front (power steering) belt and used the one that fitted the rear (alternator and water pump) pulleys correctly, as that belt was the one that was shredded. So I used the two longer belts of the four? The two shorter ones are in the spares box in S200KYS, but I'd better order another pair from someone reputable - Martin in the BigJimny shop! to make sure I do actually have the right belts left for S200KYS?!...

:/

I dunno how many variations there are. I ordered a PAS belt for my Jimny (2001 M13, non aircon). Dingbro sent the one listed for that model out but it was couple of inches too big. Got the correct one from D&A in Dundee, even then they sent out a choice of 2.

Still recuperating from my pneumonia that had me hospitalised for most of January, so I missed a day out with the rest of the guys around Shropshire today :(

So I had a nice lie-in, cooked breakfast, a short list of DIY jobs to do round the house for the missus, but then disappeared outside for a potter with the daily driver, as...

A couple of boxes had recently arrived in the post :)

So out came the centre section of the dashboard, and the old stereo...

AH, not a nice new shiny Sony headunit then?! No, the forum member who sent me a replacement stereo had re-used the box from his shiny new headunit... and I'd bought his old one off him as my CD was playing up now and again...

Hmmm, the mounting chassis are different? Swap old to 'new' then...

Balls! :( Wrong holes?! Take it all apart again then ;) LOL

All done, and tested with a few CDs that wouldn't work before...

Had to laugh though, when I first went to test it the stereo wouldn't suck the CD in? :( No, surely not...?

Yup, the previous owner had left a "mix-tape" CD in there, I'll offer to post it back to him ;)

The other box...

Had an arm-rest in it, only I didn't think ahead, and it's grey and my interior is black (leather)

Doesn't look too bad though? I could always spray it with black Plasticote?

The other problem is it sits in the back cup-holder AND covers up the front cup-holder?!

Hmmm.... ;)

I noticed recently that the offside front hub was weeping a bit of oil, so as I was ordering all new parts for the buggy's front axle rebuild. I bought another set of kingpin bearings, oil seal and ball seal for the Gold Jimny Daily Driver -

You can see thre's a mixture of oil and road dirt on the inside of the wheel :(

Stripping time then!

THe bearing shells got knocked out with a perfectly sized socket I have just for this job B)

I have a special tool for removing the oil seal too...

Errr? But where is it?!

Ahh... on the shaft still?! Hmmm, that must have been proper loose then?!

With the new seal pressed in, this photo is just to demonstrate my oil seal removal tool ;)

Hmmm, shouldn't there be grease in here? Good job the daily driver doesn't see any four wheel drive action?!

Special Tool #3... Ahhh, yes it may look like a kitchen spoon... don't tell the wife! It's actually a grease applicator! ;)

Next, a hint / trick from our own Martin Lines... a plastic bag full of waterproof grease to manipulate into the bearings :)

King Pins buttered with copper silicone sealent...

And the grease applicator used again to 'spoon' some waterproof grease into the ball, and we're ready for re-assembly...

And then the heavens opened, and it pis..iseted it down :(

So I carried on but stopped taking photos, didn't want my iPhone getting wet!

All done anyways, everything re-assembled, the inside of the wheel was cleaned with gunk degreaser and newspaper rags, and I also noticed the axle end of the panhard rod's bolt had worked a bit loose, so I nipped that up tight too...

Now time for a shower and go visit my Dad as it's Father's Day... ;)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the Dad's out there ;)
