Best paint for standard wheels was created by Noose7
I've changed my mind with getting alloys and decided to paint my standard wheels, I will be painting the wheels off the car but with the tyres on and masked off.
They have been painted before by the previous owner in silver I want to do black.
Any one recommend best way of prep and paint to use?
Cheers Andy

Hammerite direct to rust spray paint- hammered finish. Fantastic stuff! I wire brushed and wiped down with white spirit before spraying the hammerite- no primer needed. I bought two cans to do four coats over the 5 wheels. Great finish- the hammered effect hides any rust pitting present. Buy it on amazon or Ebay to save over B&Q prices

As minibb , used wire brush in the angle grinder but brushed on 3 coats hammerite for a decent thick coat then sanded brush strokes out and finished with a couple of coats of sprayed on satin black

Same as what others have said, Hammerite. I used smooth finish though. A few pics here:

I usually prep the wheel(s) thoroughly depending on their condition the amount of work can be a lot or little. I tend to use Wilko metal spray paint depending on the colour or Hammerite depending on the wheels' condition. I never worry too much about what paint it is as long as I can get the same again for a quick spruce up later. You might like to put a clear coat on top but again, being a tight $*&e I mostly don't.
