Hi everyone !

I've done a bit of searching on the forums but I don't seem to be able to find what im looking for so I'm sorry if this has all been asked before, I just can't find it!

Im looking at buying a set of bf Goodrich all terrains (215/75/15) on offset modulars for my Jimny from 4x4tyres.co.uk

www.4x4tyres.co.uk/jimny-1998-to-2005/15...el-wheel-p-5051.html

Has anyone ever bought wheels / tyres from this place, what sort of service did you get?

My questions is basically will they fit a standard Jimny? I'm not sure if I am going to lift it yet and if I do it will only be 1" - 1.5"

so will they rub / catch anything? and will they stick out past the arches? the car spends most of its time on the road taking me to work and back and never does any serious off roading, I don't want them to catch or have to lift it or cut my arches / bumpers.

Any help greatly appreciated !

Thanks ! :)

I have these tyres on the standard Jimny steel rims with no lift. I had to remove the front mudflaps and they rub on the nearside front bumper bolt on big compressions but otherwise clear everything.

I suspect with offset rims you'd definitely get rubbing on the front.

My advice would be save your money and fit the tyres on your standard rims. The extra rim width gives no advantage and the offset may cause the tyres to rub. There's no point lifting the car unless it's absolutely necessary.

The tyres alone will transform the off-road ability of your Jimny.

IMHO I think the wider wheel gives a better seat for tyres over 195 wide. The wider track gives a better visual. The greater offset gets the tyre away from the inner arch things but that isn't necessarily an issue.

It is a difficult judgement call regarding clearance but I suspect if the tyre clears on the standard 5.5 it will clear on the 7s. Also my 215 70s on 7x15 clear by quite a lot (up to 25mm) but are about 3mm worn and in theory the 215 75s have 10mm more meat so that's still within limits.
I have kept my standard rims and tyres ready for a quick swap back..

What do you mean by 'a better seat'? The standard tyres are 205. Suzuki would have used wider rims if they were better suited. There are several good reasons not to run overly wide rims off road, such as minimising the exposure of the rim and sidewall to damage.

Some might think a wider track makes the Jimny look better but that's about the extent of it. There are no other benefits as far as I can see.

215 on 5.5 is pushing it.

Pushing what?

In the countries where the Jimny 4work and 4sport are sold, you can get the 215/75 R15s as an option on the standard 5.5j rims.

If we were talking about low profile car tyres then rim width is a bit more of a consideration, but with a tall tyre like this it isn't so important.

Sorry, I'm not trying to start an argument. I'm just hoping to make people realise you don't need to buy new rims just to fit slightly bigger tyres!
