Thanks all, some top tips there.
Having had a good read around I think the rust treatment ‘best’ solution could probably be a forum in itself!
Definitely going to strip back as many panels as possible and try and get a good look in at everything. I was thinking of cleaning everything up and then a liberal couple of coatings of Rustoleum Rust Reformer to kill off the rust then, after it’s all dried, Waxoyl once a year or so. Although I’ve read how waxoyl can be an asre to apply so I’m happy to be corrected if people think that’s a daft plan!

No, the last owner attached a thin sheet of checker plate. Apparently stopped his rifle bipod twitching when shot off the bonnet!
