Yes, what was i thinking?! Prop it is
Clutch cable is pretty easy to adjust. theres a small black cover on the driverside of the gearbox which allows access and the adjuster nut outside does the movement.

From your advice I had a chap look at it when it went in for some welding. He said he was unable to adjust it, but didn't say much except there was no adjustment in it.
I don't know if that means it needs a new cable or there is a clutch issue on it's way. As I said before, there is no slipping, just a very long travel before it bites.
Any thoughts please?

Clutch pedal bracket can turn soft and sometimes even crack.
This is not an easy task, but try to look under the dash board at the bracket where the clutch wire is connected to the pedal assy as you press down the pedal. You will see if the bracket give way from the pressure.
Worn clutch or streched wire may also be the case..

Every now and again check some of the more minor items.
e.g.
Clean out the pipework for the emission system and PCV
Clean the vacuum solenoid filters

Thanks Jim and Martin, very useful stuff.
Although I am unsure as to which language "Clean out the pipework for the emission system and PCV Clean the vacuum solenoid filters" is in, as I have no idea what it means lol.
