recovery/tow rope ? was created by wombat
Hi, just been given an 18ft length of new heavy duty ratchet strap . I need to put a loop in each end to attach a shackle in order to use as a recovery/tow rope and was thinking of using a tape knot, ( throwback to rock clinbing days !! ) . Anyone got any better ideas ?

If you use a BOWLINE knot on both ends you'll always be able to undo them again.....that's the beauty of the bowline, they never tighten up no matter how hard you pull

Good call, i have used them before in competitions.
I would steer clear of the Kinetic recovery ones they are brutal and should only be used by pro's.
Lots of offroad sites have banned them.
