Many (most aftermarket) wheels sold as suitable for a Jimny are actually 110mm centrebore, slightly larger than the Suzuki size of 108.4. This works OK but the original centre caps just fall straight through the 110mm hole. Running without centre caps isn't good as the hub centre gets all rusty and water will get into the central hole - although it probably does this every time you ford a stream too! I coouldn't find 110mm caps anywhere at all and my efforts to heat up and stretch a secondhand pair of Suzuki plastic caps didn't get me anywhere; I couldn't get even an extra millimetre out of the (tough) plastic.

After a difficult search I found that some US-supplied push-through chromed centre caps in 4.25" size (this is about 108mm in new money) have a wide enough flange to stop them falling through a 110mm hole. Just before you nip up the wheel nuts, which hold the cap very securely (the flange is very thin pressed steel and doesn't prevent the wheel bedding down onto the hub) you have to centre the cap in the hole by hand, but it is easier than it sounds as the flange has a bit of a radius on it which helps it centre perfectly.

Chrome looked a bit naff with black wheels so I rubbed them satin and then sprayed them with primer and black paint. Now they look great on the black modular wheels.

If you have the same issue, I used part number 1352S from Raceways, £6.95 each. They took months to arrive but it was worth it.
