Thanks for all the replies guys.
Lots of advice there and just to update the issue my car does have a low fuel light as I went for a run this evening and kept an eye out for it and lo & behold about 100 yards from getting back home it came on so I can stop wondering now. Incidentally it came on at 214.5 miles and that was the tank filled to the brim so will see tomorrow how much I put in and get a rough idea of mpg. I will post findings in relevant section for comparison. Got to say this is a great forum and everyone is willing to advise and share info. Loving the Jimny by the way, just got a bit of finding out to do i.e. tyre pressures that work best, best underseal etc. Roll on snow time.

Re tyres if standard tyres 23 front 26 rear. I had mine in for a service at a Suzuki dealer and I thought they had taken the springs out and replaced them with concrete blocks.
They had only set the pressures at 29 all round!!! I wasn't very happy that a genuine Suzuki dealer couldn't even get the pressures correct. Probably gave the job to the apprentice lol.
I know it says 29 rear when loaded but in all the time I have owned 2 Jimnys I have never put in the "loaded" pressures.
I have tried a few pounds either way but too low makes the car noisy and doesn't roll as well but too high it makes it crash over the slightest pebble on the road

My tyres are 215/75 x15. Just filled the tank up tonight and worked out what I got for last tank, it works out at 28.5 per gallon, this was with one long run ( well it is to us where we live) of 30 miles and the rest back and fore to work which is a round trip of 11.5 miles with a few hills. Guess I can't complain at that considering it's a truck. Wife's Astra 1.6 SRi new model averages 29+ mpg and my Panda 100hp averaged round about 34 mpg ( both these figures from on board computer so may not be accurate) Great fun factor with Jimny though.

Sorry gilburton, thanks for advice re tyre pressure. Marked on front of owners manual when I bought the Jimny is BF Goodrich tyres pressure 30 psi so I have put them to this but am thinking to drop the pressures a bit. Will do a bit of research yet though.

You want to run your bigger tyres at something like 23psi.
You'll find the car far more sure footed and less skitish. But your mpg will suffer further!
Driven normally (changing up at around 3000rpm) a jimny with slightly bigger than standard AT's should average 30-32mpg normal useage... long trips you will be pushing 35-36
