There are a few cases/solutions of installed portal axles on Jimnys.

This and this forum topic contain some useful information about those cases/solutions for Jimny 3.

Info missing for Jimny 4...

There is a German specialized manufacturer Tibus offroad, which produces and sells bolt-on portal axle extenders / raisers for standard Jimny 3 and Jimny 4 front and rear axles.

Advantages and disadvantages

Be aware that of the following:

  • While being a very effective modification of serious all-terrain use, portal axles are quite expensive and the reliability/durability can be a major issue.
  • As a general rule, portal axles do not like high speeds.
  • They also increase the fuel consumption to a certain degree.
