Hello all,

I'm been away the last six months due to illness, though fighting on still... Took the Jimny for a ride two weeks ago green laning on some rough patches and up and down some steep hills which required 4 wheel drive at times... Only I drove on to tarmac with the 4 wheel drive engaged for about half a mile, when I noticed it I turned it off. There was, what looked like wet oil on the wheel spokes front driver side. Today I had chance to give a good look and the joint is wet and is loosing oil. My question is, can I refill this lost oil or has a seal broken etc ? any feed back welcomed...

Its a 2010 Jimny Y Reg.

I've been out and jacked it up,, there's some free play small maybe a millimetre or so, out of interest I checked the other side and there no free play at all and the hub is dry.

Sounds like I have one broken seal, do you think so. Is it a big job to replace the seal or has the pin worn so much it needs replacing too, and is that an easy enough job to do?

Cheers Tony.

The Jimny has 35,000 on the clock.

Most Jimnys need their kingpin bearings/ hub seals doing every now and then. Martin (bigjimny shop) sells the kingpin kit as a v reasonable price. There is a guide on the site on how to fit them.

I did both sides of mine last May as I had an oil seal apparent. Sadly it looks like its gone again but it lasted 18 months with a fair bit of off roading!

Looks like you took a pic of mine!!! Its the same... I have just ordered two king-pins kits from big-jimny store.

I guess the other will need doing too. Just under £110 with delivery to Bulgaria, hopefully I'll get it done and dusted soon. The weather here turn cool by early December and as I don't have a garage I'm out in the elements.
