He was always filming "stings" where he blatantly spoke directly to his bag, or toolbox in this episode, enunciating clearly, and getting his new mates (as he had always met them that morning in his undercover role) to repeat/confirm what they said.
And he'd tweak the position of the bag/toolbox so the camera got the best view - and no-one noticed
e.g. "So - you - fleece - customers - by - charging - for - brake - fluid - changes - that - you - don't - do?
"duh, yeah that's right, customers are really stupid, hur, hur hur"
How anyone ever fell for his stings is beyond me, but it finished Apples, they went bust.

Was a time if you had a fail cert. you could trot to another MoT station and get a pass from them.
Do it right - use Hammerite
