Gearbox problem was created by Brownie
So having just had a new clutch and axle fitted to my jimny. It decided to throw a spanner in the works for me. So the problem is that it is stuck in second and the gearbox selector has gone sloppy it's pulls fine in 2nd so my thinking is that it has disconnected itself somewhere. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so is it easy to fix

The selector is "remote", it's 6-8 inches behind the actual gearbox on an extension bracket. This has to be unbolted to get the gearbox moved back to fit the clutch, guess it's not been re fitted correctly. Who did the work for you? Take it straight back!

On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

Also there is a plastic insert in the remote they always comes out with the gear lever then drops inside. When the stick goes back in the lever is floppy add the plastic cup is missing. There is a chance this had happened and its jamming the internals of the remote? Or as mentioned above a bolt on the stabiliser for the linkage is missing or the linkage itself has disconnected.

Hiya thanks for the advice I'm going to take it back in the morning. They did lose the plastic bushing at the bottom so I machined a new one that fitted perfectly so that wasn't a problem but it was missing for a day or 2 but that is still in place as I had the top off to check inside as that was what I first thought it might of been that it had failed but still there and working it still moves the middle bit but that can now be moved by finger so I think it may be the rod. I'll take it back to them in the morning and see what they say.
