Looking at Trailwise there is only one legacy route over 'white' roads. This looks like it may be contentious with the locals from the comments.

I would suggest that you may have been engaging in some illegal off-roading there. Not knowing the legal status of the lane is no excuse for just having a play. The local council hold a 'definitive map' which shows what is legally allowed to be driven on. Being caught going off-piste can lead to the vehicle being seized and a massive fine imposed (quite rightly too).

My apologies if I am wrong about this, but please explain it a little better.

Landranger Map of the area... doesn't look like many routes around there, just the one UCR that Riccy mentions...

Yeah, just that one dirt road known as Keighley Road. I did email Bradford council about it a couple of years ago and they stated that the route is an official road but unsuitable for most motors. Like I say that was a couple of years ago so maybe something has changed. There are no signs up to say otherwise, just that you shouldn't go onto the moors.

Here's a SS from googlemaps. Not official on its own, but a good idea of the signage there. I'll see if I can find out from the council. You can see ares where pillocks have gone off the main track, but that would be their own problem.
