I hope you can find one. I have a shorter whip antenna fitted at the moment but because the standard screw fitting is so recessed inside the antenna, I couldn’t find an exact match, so it looks like it hasn’t been screwed on properly!

Would love to refit the original at a more reclined angle.

Pic? Is it so much, a single o-ring or two wont cover?

Oh, like that. Hard to get that pretty. Does the original antenna seal the hole, so no water gets into the unit?

I think so but I haven’t properly checked that yet. Another reason to change it.

With any mounted aerial such as that, you could always do what we do on aircraft aerials, and that is, mask-off around the base of the fitted aerial with some decent tape such as Frog Tape and seal the joint with Polyurethane sealant
You can find it cheaper than that illustration on places like Amazon. I've used it to bond aluminium strengthening plates to the mounting points on aluminium vintage car mudguards.
Don't be tempted to use silicone sealant - it gives up the ghost after a while.

IF IT AINT BROKE, KEEP FIXING IT UNTIL IT IS

Those are pretty good suggestions. All depending on how permanent the installation is, I've done the same.

Can we get a closeup of the original antenna, and the hole in the socket/foot?

The Vitara has the same antenna, and I got to take a look at it today. As far as I can see, the gap is more or less cosmetic. Didn't look like the original antenna created a seal.

Here is the original antenna where you can see the deep recess as opposed to the replacement. The standard antenna completely covers the attachment nipple and has a good interference fit (it squeaks when being screwed in or out)

(apologies for the poor quality photos, I was in a rush at the time)

Have any of you found a kit like this: kufieta.com/offer-1/universal-car-antenn...-joint/#!prettyPhoto

Take the joint from a kit like that, and you can lay the antenna pretty flat.

I managed to get the headlining down a fair bit more today and had a proper look at the connector it is a HRS GT21-2/1S. I have found where this is available and might buy THIS cut the ends off and put the GT21 on, then I can plug into the existing loom. This will also mean buying a separate GPS antenna that I can either stick on the windscreen or maybe utilise that into the GT21 connector and stick it to the rear side window.

Thanks George. That would do the job and I guess we would want some kind of flexible shroud to go over the top. Hopefully someone will make one in the right size.
