Well, I'd like to rebuild and truss both my front and rear axles but I know from my past it will take some time because I have never done this before and I would work on them over weekends only. I don't want to end up with a car having no axles for weeks or even for a few month hence I thought I'd buy a full set (front and rear) then simply swap when refurbishment finished.
So it would be benefical to avoid swapping diffs and half shafts at a first place. Unfortunately atm I'm struggling to find straight ABS axles from a vvt Jimny within my budget and range. Luckily I'm not in a rush.

Ok, so any ABS axles would do but ideally you'll want some from a post 2005 car to keep the same diff ratios which would avoid over gearing it and making it sluggish.

Thanks guys I think I will need to visit some breakers. What price would you think fair for a complete rear/front axle? (not refurbished)

If your going to the trouble of bracing/trussing the axle then it will need to be stripped down completely anyway.
You might as well just get a casing and build it up from your parts once its welded and painted, therefore the diff is irrelevant. its not hard to swap it anyway, just some bolts and sealant (once the shafts are out).
I would expect in the region of £100 should buy a good casing to work from
