Hey folks

I know it's an old thread, but a lot of good info in here.

Just wondering how the 205/75r15s compare to 215/75r15s, plan on running a 2" lift 'eventually' (was hoping to do it this month but decided to buy another project instead, me smart), so don't think I'd have to worry about rubbing in the long run.

However I do worry about its acceleration, towing ability and to a lesser extent, economy. I know most on here report the 205/75s as a near negligible difference, but the 215s being more noticeable.

Just wondering if anyone's tried both and can tell me how much more noticable the 215s are, I will admit to already finding the Jim slightly sluggish.

Edit: also Boss tyres has Grabber AT3s in 205/75 for £72 a corner, which looks an absolute bargain at a glance.

205/75/15 you will not notice any difference. 215/75/15 no massive change to on road performance, it is always going to be on the slow side compared to a modern car. Only place I notice it is on a local A road with a long hill. Originally got to the top in 5th (just) now down shift to 4th halfway up but maintain the same speed. MPG slightly lower around town but slightly higher on a long run if its not all hills.

Exactly like Allan had mentioned, I had 205/75/15 grabber At, then moved onto the grabber 215/75/15 x3 Mt, and just feels that tiny bit more sluggish, pictures are Grabber AT 205/75/15 on standard height Jimny. they rubbed on a tiny bit of the front arch but i had them on a -30 offset rim as pictured and has the fatter bumper 05 onwards.

I run 215/75 r15. They do make the car feel a bit sluggish compared to standard tyres but you soon get used to it. A lot of it depends how you drive. Below 4,000rpm the engine is making barely 50hp, so drive it like a grandad and progress will always be slow. Use the full potential of the engine and they are quite spritely, all things considered. Peak power is around 6,000rpm, and the engine pulls up to 6,500rpm quite happily.

I regularly tow up to the maximum towing capacity of 1.3tons and have no issues. You have to adjust how you drive accordingly, but I can still get up to the legal speed limit and not hold up traffic.
