2004 jimny first and second gears hard to get into gear ,third fourth fifth not as bad
clutch bites high

i was thinking clutch but is the cable adjustable

Welcome to the forum. Yes it is possible to adjust the clutch cable. There's a big plastic nut at the gearbox end that allows adjustment. It will need something like a water pump pliers to get it free but then is done by hand. Just be fairly careful it is plastic.

IF the bite is near the top, then the clutch is pressing down too far, this shouldn't make it hard to get into gear as it will definitely release fully.

First is always a bit reluctant when the gearbox is anything other than hot. On a 2004 though, reluctant first and second might be the start of some problem with the gearbox bearings.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
