Hello from Italy was created by Tex
I've just registered after having been a lurker for the last few months, while I was waiting for my new Jimny to be delivered.
It looks to me that this forum represents the perfect balance for both hardcore off-roaders and complete novices like me.
Last friday I took possession of my jungle green beastie after a 6 months wait, and it's definitely worth it: I love it to bits, bar for the esp, which I find a bit too intrusive for my liking and my driving style.
Here in Italy Suzuki chose to sell the jimny exclusively in (your) SZ5 trim, so it's perceived as quite expensive: 22,900 € - about 4,000 € more than the gen 3 model it replaces.
Being a petrolhead at heart, though, I couldn't pass on it and I placed an order as soon as my poor wife got convinced about our absolute need of a new offroader to replace my ageing Pajero Pinin.
Tomorrow I should get the first accessories, which my dealer wasn't able to deliver with the car (side mouldings, wind deflector, smokers kit), and on saturday I'll have a go at fitting them.
Well, that's it for now.
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum Tex! Good to have ya on board.

Be great to see some pictures of your green machine too!

I would of seriously considered the green if offered. It suits the jimny really well, as does the grey IMHO.

Once again ...... WELCOME or.. Benvenuto :cheer: :cheer:

Jungle Green - very nice, subtle and not available for UK customers. Look forward to learning about how it performs. I'd like to go from Turin to Aosta and up over the Alpine passes in mine.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I'll take some pics as soon as I'll have the accessories fitted, promise.
I see your colour options are quite limited, that's a pity.
I'm very happy with my choice, but - given the retro vibe the jimny spreads - I would have liked the option to choose from a broader colour range, with some vintage shades like baby blue and sage green à la land rover, or funky colours as seen on 70's american offroaders.
While I don't usually like to make aesthetic changes to my cars, I'm increasingly -and worringly- looking intto getting some retro stripes on the jimny...
Mechanically I won't do much - maybe I'll add some underside protection for some mild off-roading - as it will be my everyday car and because here in Italy -basically- you're not allowed to make mechanical modification to you car without having to pass a homologation test, which the appointed office is not even willing to admit you to :S
One can't even change the tyre size from those dictated by the car's maker (and Suzuki dictates the OE spec only).
I'll need some roof rack and a rear ladder to reach it, for sure, but the options look quite expensive for now.
