Short aerial for gen 4 Jimny was created by GeordieJimny
Hi, does anyone know of a replacement aerial for the new Jimny that is about a 3rd (maybe 10-15cm) of the size of the original? Or perhaps more flexible.

I've seen the stubby ones but they say they're not GPS compatible.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations :)

I also wanted a short aerial for parking in my garage and could not find one or even a folding aerial that did DAB/GPS & FM. So I went completely the other way and fitted a 1 meter antenna that swivels at the base.

Wow that's some antenna!

Problem I'm trying to solve is when the tent is on the roof it's squishing it, so the smaller the better.

Thinking about it I should just keep unscrewing it off when flipping the tent out instead. Saving a few minutes seemed to justify buying a new aerial in my consumer mug noggin lol.

This comment penertrated my 'in denial' firewall and tickeled my truth molecules, resulting in an unexpected Lol'in fit.

Raw truth is easily recignised and wonderfully relatable.

Is the gps aerial really in the roof aerial? I assumed it was just chucked under the dash somewhere. If it was external to the car, it might actually work

I had the SLDA out today to mess with mine, when I connect an eBay gps aerial and stick it on the roof, the position info reports 10 satellites, using the internal one, it was on zero, and grudgingly went to 2 after a very long hard stare.

I have the same problem with the LCN in the Renault Nissan, not a surprise as they are both the Bosch unit, in the Renault Nissan, I have an eBay aerial stuck to a piece of steel atop the dash, and if it loses signal, I open the window and stick it to the roof.

I could use a longer aerial to try and get the DABs to work when the car is moving...

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Oh this tech bit is above my pay grade! :)

I unscrewed the aerial and the built in sat nav stopped working. I’m going to risk CarPlay on the upcoming NC500. And get the printed maps out and pretend we know how to overland.

The urge to buy something is pulling like crazy towards new tires, roof rack and the utter rip off priced front runner quick release tent mounts. Urghhhhhh must stop looking at Japanese instagrams.
