Equipment in your Jimny? was created by Andy2640
I got a fair few essential items in the Jim now: A few tools, first aid kit, small shovel, tow rope, tyre inflator etc etc...... but i was wondering what are the true must have essentials. Most of you chaps have been around! Got stuck, had flats, camped out, some may even broke down in the middle of nowhere with no signal ;-)

So be great to know whats in your arsenal?

After years in Jeeps with four-litre engines that can lug around anything and everything, for me the Jimny represents a new ethos - lightweight.

So I have a recovery rope, two shackles, and a pair of gloves. I bring with me a phone and a credit card. That's it. Less is more.

Pretty much the stuff you've already mentioned:
  • 12v tyre compressor
  • first aid kit
  • tow strap (onroad use)
  • fire extinguisher
  • jump leads
  • telescopic wheel brace
  • picnic blanket
  • hi-vis vests
  • folding shovel
  • rain poncho
  • foil blanket
  • shopping bags

I've never needed to use a proper toolkit on a car while away from home, so just have a couple of manky screwdrivers in there just in case :)

None of that lot is Jimny specific, I carried the same stuff in my cars going back ages. None of it is for off-road recovery, as the car is lacking in proper recovery points at the moment.

Thing is having been a victim of car crime I don't want extraneous things in my vehicles that I have to worry about, so k.i.s.s.

I used to be into "prepping". Ya know, a nuke strike occurs, somehow leaves my jimny intact, and i'm free to roam the country looking for a spot to build a wood cabin and live happily ever after ;-) So I have a good few handy bits of kit.

So far ive got in car:

2 Portable HAM radios.
tow rope
jump leads
pix axe (folding)
Folding shovel
water bottles x6
24hr ration pack
jerry can (attached ingeniously, ill take a pic in a mo.
first aid kit
Torque wrench with fitments for wheels.
Fire extinguisher
baby wipes (lol)
usb cables
12v to 240v adaptor
Basic tool pouch
cargo net
bungee fasteners
Wind up lantern/radio
Poncho
Hat, scarf, gloves

No wonder you're only getting twenty to the gallon.

And, no room for Miss Hotlips. :(
